Gold Star Restaurant is located on 68 West Boylston Street in Worcester, owned by Bill. Being a breakfast and lunch restaurant, it is only open until 3:00 p.m., although it is open every day of the week at 6:00 a.m. (7 on Sundays). While small, the restaurant has many good reviews on service and food. Although Gold Star does not have a website, restaurant review websites such as Yelp.com and Urbanspoon.com both give Gold Star a 4 and a 4.5 star rating out of 5, respectively. Both websites also have many compliments on the food, specifically the corned beef hash, a popular side to a meal.

“It’s hard to compete and earn your place these days,” says the owner, Bill. “So many different food places have come and gone over the years.” Just a few buildings down from his establishment, there was a bagel factory which only lasted a short time, and was replaced by a pizza restaurant named Bellisimo’s, which was then replaced by what is now, The Pizza Oven after barely being there for a few short months. Also a few buildings down from Gold Star Restaurant, was Marty’s Ice Cream which was replaced by Fastway Pizza.

With there now being five different pizza places that are all in the same neighborhood (three have been established there for many years), Gold Star Restaurant is definitely a stand out by serving just breakfast and lunch foods. It is definitely worth going to and trying out for a change. Whether you call in for takeout or come in to sit down and dine, you sure won’t regret ordering from a place that is owned by someone who really knows how to cook food that stands out.

My personal suggestion: Sausage, egg, and cheese on a bulky roll.
